What is a Ketogenic diet?

The ketogenic diet is a high "healthy fat", moderate protein and very low carbohydrate diet. The most amazing thing to us is the therapeutic effects that are shown to improve, not only cognitive function and mental clarity, but also minimize complications resulting from:

Seizures

Epilepsy

Parkinson's

Alzheimer's

M.S.

and even Cancer

We have seen our health issues literally go away, especially the inflammation.

By restricting your carbohydrates on the ketogenic diet, it reprograms your metabolism to burn your fat stores for fuel rather than using the glycogen stored in your muscles. So after only a short time of being on this diet, your body will switch over to burning fat for fuel instead of sugar. This is called "Ketosis".

This allows your fat cells to begin releasing fatty acids, which your liver will then break down to produce what are called, "Keytones".

Please click on the links below to see two of our favorite YouTube videos that explains the ketogenic diet best.

After watching these videos, we are sure that you will want to join us on this ketogenic journey.

Here are 10 tips we hope will be helpful.

1. Prayer. Ask God to help you take dominion over this part of your life.

2. Think of the health benefits and the fact it will literally help you have a better, longer life.

3. Set yourself up for success. Start by cleaning out the junk in your pantry. Give it away of throw it away, just toss it out.

4. Make a firm commitment to give it a try for at least 30 days. Find a friend or family member to be an accountability partner.

5. Make a food journal, or have an app on your phone that keeps track of EVERYTHING you eat.

6. Do your homework. Create a shopping list and do as much meal prep (freezer meals, snack packs etc.) so you will always have access to healthy choices.

7. DON'T CHEAT!! Put up a scripture, my favorite is Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

8. Take before pictures and measurements.

9. Keep it simple. You don't have to create lavish, fancy meals. Just pick a few things you like and rotate them.

10. Take time daily to continue learning, watching videos, reading about the ketogenic lifestyle, join a Keto Facebook group and above all, Stay Encouraged.

We have much more information that we are excited to share with you soon.
